49th Annual Quilt Show and Sale July 17-19: What You Need to Know

The 49th Annual Quilt Show and Sale at the Albert County Museum is taking place Thursday July 17th to Saturday July 19th, 10:00am – 5:00pm. All items in the Community Hall are for sale! There will be over 100 quilts of various sizes, colours, designs and quilting styles from queen, lap and crib quilts, plus other smaller quilted projects and quilt tops, all created by quilters in the Maritime Provinces. A new category in 2025 is “Vintage Quilts”. Having no limit on age or condition, these quilts may range from gently used to well loved!

Local Photographer Wins Prestigious Award with an Albert County Backdrop!

I have recently returned from the Canadian Imaging Conference and Expo in Ottawa, where I was honoured to learn that my image, “Aurora Caninus”, was selected for the prestigious Professional Photographers of Canada 2025 National Loan Collection.

This image is especially close to my heart because I created it right here, in Albert County. I began planning this image the first time I had the chance to photograph the amazing Aurora Borealis in May 2024. I kept thinking about how I could get a dog into the scene, but my own are too tiny and ill-behaved to make good models.

Cape Engrage Community Appreciation Day Neighbourhood Social

In celebration of Fundy Albert and the new members to our community, the Chipoudy Community Revitalization Committee is hosting a series of neighbourhood socials. To support this endeavor, Cape Enrage will be celebrating the region and the relationships between us by offering free entry to everyone on Sunday, June 8th! This opportunity is a chance for us to show our love for this community and express our gratitude at being included in such an extraordinary area.

To celebrate this year’s Community Appreciation Day, we will be hosting Ian Duncan, a local musician and bagpiper at the Cape House Restaurant from 1 to 3 p.m. Ian has a wide repertoire of folk music, ranging from Irish and Scottish Celtic music, to traditional Acadian and Cape Breton jigs and reels. As well as having some lively music,Cape Enrage will be providing light refreshments to all who come.

This is the perfect occasion for any newcomers to come out and meet the crowd, as well any Albert County regulars to come join the fun and enjoy some fantastic music. For those who have been waiting for the summer season to start, this is an amazing opportunity to come out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather—fog or not—and explore our amazing coastal property.

We hope to see lots of familiar returning faces, as well as many new ones in our community. Leading up to this event, we hope that you all will think of the caring, wonderful culture we share, and how lucky we are to have such a warm and welcoming community.

Harvey Hall Has Big Plans!

The Harvey Hall continues to serve the community, staying in the hearts and minds of Fundy Albert since 1884. The 2025 season for the hall has begun, and we’re inviting you in – with major new improvements!

Some readers may know that the community hall now sits on a bigger parcel of land, since its Board purchased the neighbouring lot which took hundreds of volunteer hours of archival research, engaging pro bono lawyers, and meeting with local politicians supporting these efforts. We’ve got BIG plans ahead!

Many readers may know about the programs we’ve offered at the hall, such as socially active senior citizen lunch & information sessions, arts and entertainment (including the first live stage play in years), music of every variety, Folk School classes and workshops, and shared meals, music, and laughter with neighbours, friends, and families.

Fundy National Park Celebrates 75 Years

Once an island of civilization in a sea of wilderness - now an island of wilderness in a rapidly changing world - Fundy National Park has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the past 75 years.

A land with deep roots
At its origin, Fundy National Park was a place of towering trees, rugged coastlines and sweeping tides in the heart of the Mi’gmaq district of Signigt’gewa’gi. The park’s story began long before its designation as a national park. The Mi’gmaq have lived, travelled, and stewarded these lands and waters since time immemorial. The Bay of Fundy region holds a rich cultural history, shaped by Indigenous peoples and European settlers who arrived in the 1820s.

Happy May, Albert County!

There are plenty of reasons to cruise down the 114 to Alma, and we’d like to add two more to the pile! Our gift shop, Outpost East, located in the Visitor Centre of Fundy National Park, which is open every weekend, and Outpost Alma, on Main Street in Alma will be open starting the May long weekend. They’re a great place to get Fundy National Park gifts and local art, and each purchase helps us develop programming like the Rising Tide Trails & Tunes Festival and the February Frolic!

The 2025 Molly Kool Award
Nominations for the 2025 Molly Kool Award will open on May 25th. The Molly Kool Award was created to recognize women in Southeastern New Brunswick for their outstanding contributions to the community at large in such areas as arts, culture, conservation, and environmental stewardship. It’s an opportunity to highlight someone who enriches their community with their hard work but doesn’t seek recognition – you know the type! National Trails Day
Looking a little further ahead, we’re excited to celebrate International Trails Day and the annual Shepody Trail Spring Clean up on Saturday, June 7th.
