Connecting Albert County exists because of the strength of the community. Over the past 11 years, it has continued to develop because of the dedicated leadership of the people who work together to make sure it happens. Over the next few months, CAC will be taking the opportunity to share with our readership to the community members who are presently serving on our Board of Directors.
The first time I met Derek was in a collaborative meeting and he was representing CCRC. My previous meeting ran late, so subsequently I was behind, and pulled over on the side of the road for the video appointment. This was after already rescheduling once because of a foolish injury I sustained! Embarassed, I sheepishly logged on, thinking of the poor first impression I must be making! But there was no need for the insecurity. Derek's sense of humour, confidence, and collaborative nature was immediately apparent. Sharing a similar sense of humour that appreciates dry self-deprecation, we ended up meeting longer than anticipated, brainstorming collaborative ideas, community engagement, and sharing our love of our pets and our love of community.
Derek is an interesting sort! Every time we chat I discover more about his background and the journey that brought him to Fundy Albert. Here's a brief bio about Derek - with thanks to him for volunteering with us at Connecting Albert County.
