The Fundy Albert Community Collective Co-operative (FAC3) is pleased to announce that negotiations are underway with the CCRC as a result of its Request for Proposal (RFP) to revitalize the historic Old Bank building at 5985 King Street, Riverside-Albert.
Honouring History While Building for the Future
Built in 1906, the Old Bank is one of Riverside-Albert’s most recognizable heritage buildings and the site of the largest bank robbery in New Brunswick history. FAC3’s vision is to protect that legacy while bringing the building back into active use as a space that serves today’s community.
“The Old Bank is one of those buildings people feel connected to, even if they’ve never stepped inside,” said David Jacombs, FAC3 Co-Founder and Vice-Chair, “We see this project as a way to protect that connection while opening the doors again and giving the building a new purpose that benefits everyone.”
The first phase of the project, planned for Spring 2026, will focus on creating year round opportunities that support the local economy, strengthen food security, showcase local products and makers, and provide a welcoming place for both residents and visitors. “The board of the CCRC is excited by the FAC3’s well thought-out proposal. We look forward to concluding negotiations soon and partnering to revitalize the Old Bank”, said CCRC board chair William MacCallum”.
FAC3 is passionate about bringing life back to the Old Bank and believes that this project belongs to the community. To ensure clear communication and encourage participation, FAC3 will be hosting a community information meeting January 27th, 2026.
“We want people to know who we are, what we’re planning, and how they can be involved,” said Daniel Sacchetto, FAC3 Co-Founder and Secretary. “This meeting is as much about listening as it is about providing information.” Full meeting details will be announced in the coming weeks.
About Fundy Albert Community Collective Co-operative
The Fundy Albert Community Collective Co-operative (FAC3) is a not-for-profit cooperative organization, focusing on bringing new life to local spaces, supporting the local economy, and creating year-round opportunities in the Fundy Albert region. FAC3 is committed to transparency, collaboration, and long-term community impact.
FAC3 is a social enterprise deeply engaged in Fundy Albert through ongoing volunteer work, boards, and community projects. “Together we have a shared commitment to community development, economic resilience, and heritage preservation,” said David Jacombs. While new in name, the people behind FAC3 may already be familiar to many in the community through their involvement in initiatives across Alma and Riverside-Albert.
FAC3 members hosted the Firehaus Bistro, at Red Roof during Christmas in the Country in 2024, all funds raised were in support of the Riverside-Albert Fire Department. They are also the team behind Community Charity Bingo, held at the Alma Activity Centre on the first Sunday of the month; all proceeds raised are put right back into the community.
As a co-operative, FAC3 is actively seeking Board members, Volunteers and Community members interested in being part of the Old Bank project and membership in the organization.
“Being part of a cooperative means giving the community a real voice. Everyone is welcome, and it truly is an all-hands on deck effort. At its core, this work is about keeping what matters most alive in our communities.
If that means thoughtfully embracing the beauty and opportunities that visitors are drawn to, and using them in a way that supports the people who call this place home, then that is where the real opportunity lies.
Most importantly, FAC3 was designed to sustain our people. By restoring fundamental resources to the area, we hope to reinforce a simple truth: Tourism may be part of our economy, but without residents, there would be no community and without community, there would be no visitors. That balance is what matters most to me as a member of FAC3,” stated Amanda Harris, President and Co-Founder.
