As spring broke across Albert County, the venerable Harvey Hall reopened its doors once more — with renewed energy, new land, and ambitious programming to serve the region. From March through October 2025, the Hall hosted a range of events that speak both to the diversity of our community and the potential lying ahead — and all of it has been powered by a small but devoted corps of volunteers. Now, as the season rolls toward its close, that volunteer base must grow if Harvey Hall is to keep thriving.
Highlights from the 2025 Season
• Harvey Hall hosted its first play in years - The Return of Grace
• Community events including our annual indoor yard sale, neighbourhood ice cream social, film screenings to benefit local organizations, and even a meteor shower viewing party!
• Sustained programming & community services: Beyond marquee shows, the Hall supports ongoing initiatives: info sessions, folk school classes, shared meals, workshops, and more. These quieter programs are the glue of a community hall — they keep doors open, minds engaged, and social ties strong.
1. Events need hands behind the scenes. Every performance, workshop, or meal requires setup, cleanup, ticketing, promotion, logistics, stagehand work, AV support, and more. The Hall’s increasing scope only multiplies those demands.
2. Sustainability depends on people, not just donations. Donations and grants are vital (and very welcome), but the Hall is a working space — it needs people to run it, maintain it, program it, and animate it.
3. Volunteer effort has already made visible gains. The expansion of the lot, the return of live performances, and the expansion of community programming are tangible outcomes of previous volunteer commitments.
4. Without more volunteers, the workload will burn out the few. The existing volunteer base is passionate, but limited. If burnout sets in, programming must be scaled back, or the Hall simply cannot respond to community needs.
5. Volunteering is also community building. You don’t just help the Hall — you deepen social ties, learn new skills, and help shape the cultural life of our rural region.
If you value live music, theatre, shared meals, folk arts, and a gathering place in rural Albert County — then now is the moment to join the team. Whether you bring energy for event logistics, promotional skills, administrative support, sound/lighting tech, carpentry, or simply time and enthusiasm — Harvey Hall needs you. For more information or to volunteer, contact the Board at [email protected]. The Harvey Hall only thrives as much as the people powering it — will you be one of them?
