What is it? The Well Woman Program is an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner that may involve screening for cervical and breast cancer and education on maintaining your health.
Whom will I see? A female nurse practitioner will talk with you and conduct the assessment.
Who can go? Any woman who lives in the catchment area of the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre (between Stoney Creek and Alma, inclusive) can attend. You don’t have to be patient of the centre to receive this service. A record of your visit and test results will be sent to your family doctor or nurse practitioner.
When is it held? Well Woman Clinics are scheduled with some individual flexibility.
Where is it held? You can have an appointment at the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre in Riverside-Albert or at the new Hillsborough Satellite Office located at the “Old Church,” 2807 Main Street, Hillsborough.
How do I make an appointment? Just call 882-3100 and explain you would like to participate in the Well Woman Program.
How often do I go? This is very individual but the nurse practitioner will discuss this with you. The Health Centre will call you to arrange any necessary follow-up appointments.
Who provides the program? The Well Woman Program is provided by the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre with the support of the Bennett and Albert County Health Care (BACH) Foundation. The BACH Foundation and the Village of Hillsborough have enabled the extension of this service to the new satellite office.
