Bio: NBSCF is a provincial organization representing seniors and seniors’ clubs across New Brunswick, advocating for their rights and interests while promoting connection, education, participation and well-being.
At its Annual General Meeting held this past May, the New Brunswick Senior Citizens’ Federation elected Mr. Donald G. LeBlanc as Provincial President.
A dedicated volunteer for many years, Donald is deeply committed to the well-being of seniors. His desire to serve his community led him to become actively involved with the Federation, where he has come to know the clubs, volunteers, and realities faced by seniors throughout New Brunswick. Over the years, he has developed great respect for the work of the hundreds of volunteers who devote their time and energy to keeping seniors’ clubs active in their communities.
Although Donald speaks only English, he has always had a strong interest in his Acadian roots and in the history of Acadia. Every summer, he shares this passion—and his talent for storytelling—by giving presentations on Acadian history to cruise ship passengers visiting Saint John. He introduces them to the Deportation, the resilience of the Acadian people, and the cultural heritage that contributes so greatly to the richness of our province. And since an Acadian story is never far from good food, he is also a fan of poutines râpées—proof that he has embraced Acadian culture right down to his plate!

Before being elected President, Donald served as President of the Loyalist Zone and as a member of the NBSCF Board of Directors. These roles gave him an excellent understanding of the Federation’s operations and of the challenges facing seniors. He firmly believes that every senior, regardless of where they live or which official language they speak, deserves to be heard and represented.
The Federation remains firmly committed to its bilingual character. When the President is called upon to address a Francophone group or participate in an activity conducted in French, interpretation is always provided so that everyone can communicate in the official language of their choice. For Donald, what matters most is being present, listening to members, and representing seniors throughout New Brunswick.
As President, Donald hopes to continue advocating for seniors, supporting local clubs, developing new partnerships, and contributing to the growth of our organization. He believes strongly that the Federation plays an essential role in ensuring that the voices of seniors are heard by all levels of government and within communities across the province. He also hopes to encourage the recruitment of new members, support the development of clubs, and foster stronger connections between Anglophone and Francophone regions of New Brunswick.
The Board of Directors and the provincial office team are pleased to have Donald’s leadership as we continue the Federation’s mission: to enhance the quality of life of all New Brunswick seniors by advocating for their rights, interests, and well-being.
We wish him every success in his new role and are confident that he will continue the Federation’s mission with passion, openness, and respect.
