The Fundy Albert Community Greenhouse is a 25’ x 48’ geothermal greenhouse. That means it can grow food almost all year long, even during cold New Brunswick winters. The project is a partnership between Caledonia Regional High School and Foods of the Fundy Valley, a local nonprofit that works to strengthen food security and support local food systems in our region.
Image of greenhouse construction from Alicia O'Hara Sanford. Learning won’t stop when school ends. During the summer months, Foods of the Fundy Valley will offer opportunities for learning in the greenhouse.
These sessions will teach gardening skills, food preparation, composting, and ways to reduce food waste. Community members of all ages will be invited to learn and take part.
We are so grateful for the support that made this project possible. OMISTA Credit Union donated $10,000, and the Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation also contributed $10,000. Their generosity is helping grow more than vegetables — it’s helping grow knowledge, skills, and a stronger community.
Construction is underway, and a grand opening celebration will be planned for June. Everyone will be invited to come see what’s growing.
Big things are happening in Fundy Albert — and this greenhouse is just the beginning!
