Health care, especially affordable dental care, is a very common inquiry for 211 Service Navigators. They are always happy to give information on new programs that can help their callers and can even directly connect them with the program that they are seeking.

Forest Dale Nursing Home Board is Looking to Expand!

We are looking for additional board members to add to our team. We strive to have representation from all Wards of Fundy Albert and are seeking representation from Wards 4, 5, and 6. Forest Dale Nursing Home is a leader in patient care and community development. If you have an interest in seniors care as well as community development and resources, please reach out to Forest Dale Nursing home to be connected with our Nominations Committee. If being a board member doesn't feel like the right fit for you, please consider volunteering with the activities department or Nursing Home without Walls.

Also, kudos to Forest Dale for securing an upgrade to their equipment, with the addition of 35 new replacement beds. Resident comfort and staff safety remain a priority in the home!

In 2013, our broader community came together to look at our collective assets and strengths and identify gaps that we could work on together to fill. One of those gaps was communication and linking together our cluster of Villages and communities. In May 2014, community members came together again and agreed that this would be the priority that we spent our collective efforts on and thus, the Fundy Communication Network was born.

When the air is crisp, the leaves have fallen, and geese gather themselves for their yearly trip south, thoughts turn toward upcoming special days: Halloween, Remembrance Day, and then Christmas! Christmas is a widely celebrated event where family and community traditions blend in harmony. School concerts, special dinners, holiday parties, music events, charity donations, and travel plans loom over many of us by mid November, and before we know it we are knee deep in coloured lights, festive ribbon, and list upon list of things to do, places to go, and stuff to buy.

Christmas in the Country Celebrates Success

After much preparation by volunteers, businesses, and a variety of organizations in the Albert County Region, Christmas in the Country was met with another year of success. The first weekend of December includes the last day of November – Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1 visitors from all over and locals spent their day travelling from one end of our beautiful county to the other, taking part in a shopping expedition of epic proportions, tasting the culinary delights of many restaurants and at many markets, and sharing in the holiday spirit.

If you're not quite done your Christmas shopping don't fear! Many of the local businesses who took part in Christmas are still open or available to purchase from! Give them a call or reach out on their social media pages, and many would be happy to help you find that perfect gift for that special someone.

The most festive event of the season is almost here! Join us for the Annual Hillsborough Christmas Parade in honour of Lois Snider on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 6:30 pm.

Come see dazzling floats, twinkling lights, and holiday cheer as we celebrate the most wonderful time of the year! Don't miss out on this heart warming event! Mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable holiday tradition.

Parade route begins at the Hillsborough Elementary School parking lot, continues onto Academy Street, down Main Street, and ends at Steeves Street.

Please join Santa at the Kiwanis Centre after the parade for hot chocolate and candy! If you would like to register a float, please contact Becky Snider at 506-961-7529.

Connecting Albert County has been in operation since December 2014, when its website was launched, and began publishing its first regular newsletter in January of 2015. CAC's creation resulted from needs identified during many community meetings and discussions held between 2009 and that date. It was spearheaded by a group of passionate community members that included Joanne Butland, Deborah Carr, Joseph Gallant, Barb Gebuhr, Livia Goodbrand, Lynne Greenblatt, Mindy Holmstrom, Susan Quinn, Phyllis Sutherland, Janine Underhill, Janet Wallace, Micha Fardy (then representing the United Way Greater Moncton SENB) and Joanna Brown (then representing the Westmorland-Albert Community Inclusion Network). From the get-go, it received further support from the Albert County Health and Wellness Center, with substantial funding by The Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation. CAC was truly created by the community, for the community, with care, intention, and dedication.
