Iconic and beloved New Brunswick musician Jim Blewett is turning 80 this year, and fans will have a chance to celebrate with him in style. A special birthday concert will take place on Thursday November 20, from 8:30–10:30 p.m. at The Holy Whale Brew Pub in Riverview.
The evening promises to be unforgettable, filled with surprises, great music, and heartfelt tributes to one of the region’s most influential and well-loved performers.
Joining Jim on stage will be his long-time musical partner Tim Isaac, along with friends Chris Mersereau, Sara Liptay, and Ian Duncan. The night will open at 8:00 p.m. with a neo-traditional set by Ian Duncan performing as Lupin. As an added treat, the Moncton duo Bouhala—featuring Chris Mersereau and Ayoub Serhani—will bring their unique blend of Moroccan and Acadian sounds to the stage.
For more than three decades, Jim Blewett has been a fixture of the East Coast music scene, inspiring a generation of musicians with both his artistry and his back-to-the-land lifestyle. With seven albums to his credit—two with Isaac, Blewett & Cooper, and five with Isaac & Blewett—he has performed on festival and theatre stages across Atlantic Canada, earning ECMA nominations and a Maple Blues Award along the way.
Beyond his musical achievements, Jim is celebrated for his “cool cat” charm, spontaneous storytelling, and his easy-going encouragement to “just relax and be ourselves.”
This special evening is both a birthday celebration and a musical homecoming—a chance for friends, fans, and fellow artists to show their love for one of New Brunswick’s true originals.
