Now that the ice plant has been turned off and the curling rink is slowly melting, the time is right to update everyone on the late season events that put the icing on what has been an incredible year for the FCC. For the first time in a couple of decades some of our Little Rocks and U18 members hit the road in late March to show New Brunswick just what amazing young curlers we have right here in our community!
Our fantastic U18 team headed to the Sussex Curling Club for a one day bonspiel while two teams of energetic Little Rockers were at Curl Moncton for a three day bonspiel that attracted 42 teams from across New Brunswick. The U18 team and Little Rocker teams had excellent results as they adjusted quickly to playing in unfamiliar surroundings. Parents, coaches and spectators from the FCC who travelled to cheer our teams on were treated to spectacular shots, great sportsmanship and victories along the way. Congratulations to all the players who participated and made the entire community very proud of what you have achieved over the last year!

Saturday April 26th the FCC was bouncing with excitement as 40 participants and myriad spectators got ready for the 2nd annual FCC Indoor Washer Toss Fundraising Tournament. Combined with a community BBQ the day was filled with great games, lots of laughs and shouts of “Are you doing this again next year!?” The popularity of the inaugural event in 2024 combined with the incredible enthusiasm and demand for this year’s tournament has guaranteed it will be back even bigger and better in 2026.
The off season will be a busy one as we make improvements to enhance the curling experience, expand programming and increase community interaction. New-to-us curling stones have arrived, ice making equipment upgrades are in the works, more club renovations are planned and events with Nursing Homes without Walls are soon to come. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for the latest updates.
The FCC has been experiencing year after year increases in membership numbers and this year was no exception as we topped out at 115 members. This is absolutely incredible for the size of the community we all have the privilege to live in. The FCC board of directors is extremely grateful to our wonderful members, dedicated volunteers, corporate sponsors whose signs brighten up the ice shed, generous donors to our bonspiels, youth curling sponsors, and to the entire community who continually come out to support New Brunswick’s very best two sheet curling facility!
Until next year, keep two hands on your broom, enjoy your summer and see you in the fall!
