1st Shepody Girl Guides, the group located right here in Albert County, has a long history of helping their girls to learn, grow and mature through travel. Over the past 15 years, our girls have taken trips to PEI, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon as well as smaller trips within our own province.
Being a part of an independent trip like this as a youth not only proves to the girls they can achieve what they set out to do, they also come home more independent and more self reliant than when they left. They meet other girls from around the world, make lifelong cherished memories, and develop into confident young women who have proven themselves capable of conquering whatever challenge life throws at them.

This June will see the next group of girls trek out to expand their experiences yet again, this time to North America’s most easterly point, Newfoundland. Over nine days and eight nights, our Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers and their leaders will be hiking the same cliffs as John Cabot, going on whale watching tours, and scanning the landscape for a glimpse of puffins and icebergs. They will fly into Deer Lake and travel across the island visiting not only Gros Morne and Terra Nova National Parks, but Gander, Bonavista, Clarenville, Twillingate, and St. John’s.
Our girls have been fundraising for the last 2 ½ years to help make this goal a reality. Helping them reach this goal is easy. We have an on-going bottle drive taking place from now till the third week of June. We also have cookies! Purchasing our Girl Guide cookies helps fund the trip as well.
