June Crandall is the Elgin Seniors Club President, Elgin WI Secretary/Treasurer, Elgin Eco Association Membership Director, and Friends of Jordon Life Care Center Board Member. She grew up in Elgin Parish and attended Elgin Elementary School and Petitcodiac Regional High School (now Petitcodiac Regional School) graduating in 1971. She moved to the US over 44 years ago and has two children and four grandchildren.
Attaining a Masters and Bachelor’s degrees in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2003, she then spent 17 years in social science research as a Study Director and Project Manager at a large research firm in Maryland, US. The main focus of her research was intimate partner violence, substance use and abuse, and children’s mental health. Her work on Government-funded contracts was varied and challenging which, she believes, prepared her well to take on the challenges of serving her community.
Returning home to Elgin when she retired in October 2020, she currently serves on the Community Advisory Committee for Salisbury, Havelock, Elgin and Petitcodiac (SHEP), and surrounding communities. She also serves on the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) research team. Recently, June spearheaded the establishment of the Adult Health Screening Clinic pilot study that launched in January at the Elgin Seniors Center for a study period of three months. Conversations are ongoing as to the next steps that will benefit the community.
