The Albert County Historical Society is starting to work on a Barn Quilt Trail in Albert County. A barn quilt is a piece of wood or sign board that’s been painted to look like a quilt block. A Barn Quilt Trail consists of barn quilts put up by individuals on their barns or other buildings and registered, in this case, with the Historical Society. The Society will create a map of the registered barn quilts. The map will be made available on the website and on Facebook. It can be downloaded and used by people interested in following the Trail.
Check the following websites for details and see how rural communities have creatively used Barn Quilts to attract visitors and put themselves "on the map"–Barn Quilt Trails (barnquilttrails.ca) and Barn Quilts: Telling the Stories of Rural Canada (smallfarmcanada.ca/features/barn-quilts-telling-stories-in-rural-canada).
