Quick Facts
- As a leader in conservation, Parks Canada plays an important role with collecting data and collaborating with other conservation organizations worldwide to improve our understanding of species that inhabit or migrate through our sites.
- With 50 years of data collected in Fundy National Park, this growing dataset has become an increasingly valuable tool for observing changes to bird populations and their habitat over time.
- The opportunity to contribute to something bigger, in terms of scientific research, is just one reason why so many people participate in Christmas Bird Counts across the country.
Quotes
“For fifty years, volunteers have been coming to Fundy National Park to contribute to Bird Studies Canada’s national Christmas Bird Count. Whether you’re planning on coming out for your first time or you are a returning volunteer, this year you can expect to be a part of something special. You don’t need to be an expert to get involved and participation is free; all that is required is a willingness to volunteer, an interest in conservation and a warm winter jacket.”
-Anne Bardou, Visitor Experience Product Development Officer, Fundy National Park
