The Friends of Fundy, incorporated as the Fundy Guild, is a non-profit, charitable organization that works to increase public awareness and enjoyment of the natural and cultural heritage of Fundy National Park and its surrounding communities. We work closely with Fundy National Park and other partners, such as the UNESCO-de-signated Fundy Biosphere Reserve, on events such as the Rising Tide Festival, Fundy Salmon Recovery, and the Fundy All Nations Pow-wow. We operate two gift-shop locations within the park, Outpost East and Outpost West; all proceeds are reinvested into park and community-identified goals.
Feb. 16: Tramp & Tap The Friends of Fundy/Fundy Guild Inc. are hosting the first “Tramp & Tap” at Fundy National Park. Picture “Pedal and Pint” but with snowshoes instead of bikes! Meet at the Chignecto Pavilion at 6pm for a 1- to 1.5-hr tramp on the winter trails. Then join Friends of Fundy at Holy Whale Brewing in Alma for beer. A limited number of snowshoes are available for rent.
Feb. 18: Family Day Fun in Fundy National Park For many, Family Day is the highlight of February. What’s not to love about a day off of work or school to spend time with your friends and family? For the second year in a row, the Friends of Fundy/Fundy Guild, Parks Canada, the Hopewell Rocks and Cape Enrage are partnering to create a hub of family fun at Fundy National Park. There'll be coffee, hot chocolate and cookies served at the Salt & Fir Centre, and fun outdoor activities, like tobogganing and fat bike demos with Outdoor Elements. Stay tuned for additional, unique experiences, such as demonstrations from Para NB. Follow www.facebook.com/FundyGuild.
Kat Hallett is the Community Engagement Coordinator at the Friends of Fundy/Fundy Guild Inc. She worked in Communications for Parks Canada for two seasons before finding her way to the Friends of Fundy. The Friends of Fundy work to increase public awareness and enjoyment of the natural and cultural heritage of Fundy National Park and surrounding communities. A huge part of this is a collaboration with the Albert County Chamber of Commerce and the Albert County Tourism Association. The groups work closely to promote community engagement and, ultimately, to achieve sustainable economic development goals in the region.
