Forest Dale Nursing Home approached Foods of the Fundy Valley this past summer, with the offer of having community gardens established on their property. Next spring we will have 10 plots available to individuals that are interested in growing produce. As well there are 2 raised beds that will be tended by community organizations and schools for use in their own programs.
There are several groups to thank for making this community garden possible. Forest Dale administration and staff have been key partners and helpers in the project. The members of Caledonia Regional High School’s shop program and teacher Mike Robertson offered to build the raised beds and came down one afternoon and completed the job. Oliver Hoffer donated his time and tractor to plow the plot for the community garden, so we are ready to go in the spring. So a big thanks to all of you for making this project possible.
Stay tuned for more information as the next spring approaches.
