Are you getting excited for Market season? It’s just around the corner! This year Foods of the Fundy Valley (FFV) is stepping it up with their new Green Initiatives. Not only have they been hosting a series of Climate Change workshops on a variety of topics, but for the 2019 market season they are putting it into action.
Are you getting excited for Market season? It’s just around the corner! This year Foods of the Fundy Valley (FFV) is stepping it up with their new Green Initiatives. Not only have they been hosting a series of Climate Change workshops on a variety of topics, but for the 2019 market season they are putting it into action.
For starters, they will be eliminating the use of paper coffee cups and starting a mug library where vendors and regular goers can leave their mugs at the market. There will also be extra mugs for people passing through who may not have a travel mug with them.
A waste sorting station will also be a new feature. Black garbage bags will no longer be going into the dumpster, but will get sorted for recycling; compost will go to the FFV School gardening program, while funds from recyclables will go to kids groups in the area.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag)
In attempts to minimize plastics, re-usable bags with the ‘eat. drink .shop. local’ logo will be available for purchase, along with attractive bags sewn by vendors and of course the ever-popular Hyp-bags.
Look for these exciting changes, special events and more starting May 18th at the Hillsborough Farmers Market.

6:45 Presentation by Micha Fardy of the Fundy Guild regarding Pollinator Gardens being created in the neighbouring municipalities
