Hillsborough Public Library and the Albert County Museum  Showcasing Local History!

For the past several years, the Albert County Museum has been collaborating with the Hillsborough Public Library on several initiatives, including the annual Children’s Festival in August, and a program that led to all NB Public Libraries having free admission passes for card holders in July of 2025, which saw 242 people from across the province visit ACM at no cost. Many visitors were at the museum for the first time, and several who may not have the financial means were able to tour with their families, discover the rich history of Albert County, and learn about the legacy of Prime Minister R.B. Bennett.

The Imagination Library is made possible in our community through the partnership of Anglophone East School District (ASD-E) & Moncton Regional Learning Council and a donation from the Bennett & Albert County Health Care Foundation.

What Is It?

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60-volume set of books beginning with the children’s classic The Little Engine That Could ™.

Each month a carefully selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. Each and every book is a FREE GIFT! There is no cost or obligation to your family.

Summer Reading Program

The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Club is All Aboard! This year, children are invited to READ, DISCOVER, CREATE, and celebrate all methods of transportation at the library.

The Summer Reading Club is designed to encourage young people to read over the summer holidays. When they register, participants receive a reading logbook in which they can keep track of their reading throughout the summer, along with activities they can do at home. During the months of June, July and August, all public libraries in the province will present various fun and entertaining activities. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the summer.

Tuesdays: 12pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm;
Wednesday to Saturday:10am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.

One family/bubble at a time, with masks and social distancing. Curbside pickup will still be available upon request anytime during open hours. Library staff encourage people to use the online resources and services at www.gnb.ca/publiclibraries

2021 Summer Reading Club

This year, children are invited to celebrate fantasy at the library under the slogan “Reading is Fantastic!” The Summer Reading Club is designed to encourage young people to read over the summer holidays. When they register, participants receive a reading logbook to keep track of their reading throughout the summer. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the summer.

During July and August, all public libraries in the province will present various in-person or online/virtual fun and entertaining activities. The Summer Reading Club is intended for all young New Brunswickers.

Registration for the 2021 Summer Reading Club has started at the Hillsborough Public Library. Children who do not know how to read can participate by having a parent/ guardian read to them. Also, children can register online at gnb.ca/publiclibraries.

The Library is open for the public one person/family at a time between 1pm-4pm with masks and social distancing. Curbside pick-up is available 10am-noon.To arrange for pick-up, call the library to make an appointment.

The Hillsborough Public Library offers only Curbside Pick-up service at this time: visitors cannot enter the library. The situation may change when the province goes back to the Orange Phase. Check on Facebook or call the library to find out the latest.

Curbside pick-up
1. Contact the library to select titles or to let us know what you like so we can select books for you.
2. Reserve a time to come pick up the items.
3. Phone the library (734-3722) when you arrive. A library employee will bring items out to you.
4. Read, enjoy, repeat!
