What Is It? Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60-volume set of books beginning with the children’s classic The Little Engine That Could ™. Each month a carefully selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. Each and every book is a FREE GIFT! There is no cost or obligation to your family. |
The Imagination Library was founded by Dolly Parton in 1996 in her home state of Tennessee. She wanted every preschool child to have their own library of books, knowing that early literacy is one of the most effective ways to improve the educational opportunities for children in any community. Books are chosen carefully in keeping with the following fundamental themes: love of reading and learning; regard for diversity of people, their roles, culture, and environment; promotion of self-esteem and confidence; and the appreciation of art and aesthetics.
Who Is Eligible?
Any child from birth to age 5 who is a resident in the catchment areas of: Riverside Consolidated School or Hillsborough Elementary School.
What Are My Responsibilities?
- Be a legal resident of the school catchment area.
- Parent or Guardian submits registration online (to be approved by the Anglophone East School District).
- Books are mailed only to the address listed on the official registration form. Your child will begin to receive books 8-10 weeks after your registration form has been received and will continue until your child’s fifth birthday.
- Read with your child, and enjoy books together every day!
