Parents and children gather weekly for an informal hour of learning rhymes, songs and finger plays. Focusing on the oral tradition, storytelling is also a prominent feature of the program. Parents and children are told a story during each session – giving them the pleasure of listening and learning through an enriched language experience. Depending upon the story and the ages of the children, participants can join in with repetitive lines or gestures. In addition, parents and children can participate in the re-telling of a story as a means of practicing storytelling with the group.
The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program® has been provided in several communities over the past years with overwhelmingly enthusiastic participation. The program will be held Monday mornings starting in January 2018 at Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert. For more information or to register, please call 856-3617 or email [email protected].
