The Riverside-Albert GED first opened in November of 2009. Over the last eight years, there have been 36 graduates. “GED” stands for General Education Development, which is equivalent to a Grade 12 Education.
This program can be done full-time, part-time, or online, and is free. Students must be 19 years of age or older to enter the program. Classes are held in the bottom section of the Albert County Health & Wellness Centre in Riverside-Albert.
There are five courses of study: Reading, Science, Social Studies, Writing, and Math. Students are able to move at their own pace until they have completed all five courses.
Many past graduates have moved on to their chosen careers; some have opened their own businesses. We have had families come (not all at once), as well as mothers & daughters, and husbands, wives & sons. The oldest graduate was 69 years young. There is something for everyone.
