On the cool and crisp morning of April 15 at 8am, the Harvey Hall hosted the first annual Indoor Yard Sale! While having the purpose of raising funds for the Hall's continued work, there were also other great results. Volunteers worked with Board Members to host the event, people of the community gathered to chat, newcomers were welcomed to the area and Harvey Hall worked in conjunction with another organization to help it raise funds as well. All this equals a greater sense of community for our area.

While having the purpose of raising funds for the Hall's continued work, there were also other great results. Volunteers worked with Board Members to host the event, people of the community gathered to chat, newcomers were welcomed to the area and Harvey Hall worked in conjunction with another organization to help it raise funds as well. All this equals a greater sense of community for our area.
It was wonderful to have so many board members volunteer their time for this event. Unpacking takes more time, but there are always those mystery items or tacky items that might elicit a laugh or two. Our tables and benches were laden with items of a certain category that made it easy for our guests to perhaps find just the right item! Clean up was rapid and easily done. All remaining items were removed to be further donated in the city. We are grateful for all the donations from board members and other contributors.
Our joint venture with the Shepody Girl Guides Club was very enjoyable by the yard sale staff and the guests! Two moms and two daughters were on hand and the morning was well staffed by a teenage guider named Mya. Connections were made and future endeavors can be planned. There were a few people who said they came for the Girl Guide Cookies, so the bonus was the yard sale items on display.
All in all it was a great event, which just might be on the schedule for spring in the years to come.
