Canada’s 150th birthday will be celebrated during Shepody Days, July 7-9, with not one but two festive cakes!
Friday night, July 7 at Chase the Ace, the Village of Riverside Albert will serve cake as part of the festivities. That evening, at dark, Kathy and Darrell Weir will sponsor fireworks over the river. Good viewing spots would be along Water Street, the school parking lot, etc.
Schedule of Events
At 9 am, near the Catholic Church, a Soap Box Derby will be sponsored by the Volunteer Fire Department. Registration forms will be available soon.
From 1-4 at the Fairgrounds, there will be a variety of activities for children: a Bouncy Castle, face painting, rides in the FD Little Engine, a Pellet Shoot, and other fun events. A “3 on 3” Basketball Tournament sponsored by the Recreation Council will take place for students in Gr. 6-9. Mindy Holmstrom will have registration forms for the teams. The Firemen will demonstrate a Car Extrication using the Jaws of Life at 4pm.
Sunday July 9 the annual Kayak Races will take place at the landing, near the school, at 1 PM. This event is sponsored by Crooked Creek Adventures.
