Former American Kiteflier champion bringing talents to Hopewell Cape

HOPEWELL CAPE – Fans of kites will be in for a treat when three American kitefliers bring their skills to Hopewell Cape for a kite building and flying workshop at the Albert County Museum.

Cliff Quinn, Marla Miller and Ron Miller will be at the Albert County Museum on Aug. 6 from 9 to 11 a.m. to teach children all about the art of kite building and kite flying.

Alma Boil Order Update - July 22

UPDATE JUL 22ND, 2016 - By now everyone has been notified that we are on boil order.
We have had a lengthy meeting with Department of Health and Environment concerning our recent equipment failure at the well house. Also Atlantic Purification Systems have been on location to evaluate the extent of the control system for accurate readings. At this time we are awaiting their assessment and recommendations as well as instructions from the Department of Health.

Hillsborough celebrates being Canadian

All ages came out on Friday to play, eat, socialize and help Hillsborough celebrate the Canada Day weekend. The Artisan Village at the Wetlands Park officially opened. Then at noon, Hillsborough’s newest residents from Aleppo, Syria, - Mohammad and Montaha Khalaf and their children Rodaina, Ahmed, Alaa and Wissam - helped cut the cake at the Steeves House Museum. It was a very special moment for all and a heartfelt gesture of welcome and acknowledgement that they are now part of our local history.

What’s Brewing in Alma?

A new business is brewing in Alma. Peter and Jeff Grandy, brothers from Charlottetown, PEI, are converting the former (decommissioned) St. Stephen’s United Church into the Holy Whale Brewery and Buddha Bear Café.

Jeff attended the Brew Master program at Olds College in Alberta and Peter is a mechanical engineer. They both bring many years of brewing experience to their business, along with their own brand of on-site roasted coffee.
