Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in Moncton at the Legends Room of the Moncton Coliseum (377 Killam Drive, Entrance C at the rear of the Coliseum) from 10 am to 5 pm (doors will open at 9 am). Registration forms should be sent to the clubs shortly. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided by JCB Interpretation Inc. and Sonic-Image. A coffee break and lunch will be offered.
The board of directors had its first meeting of the year on Thursday, February 1st (which had to be postponed from January 25th due to a death in the president's family). We have two new members: Laureena Black (Miramichi Zone President) and Doug Rowlands (Loyalist Zone President for the Saint John region).

This past January, the 2024 Executive Members were sworn in for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 - Hillsborough NB (pictured below). The main mission of the Legion is to provide support for veterans and their families in Albert County. Your generous support during the Poppy Campaign, leading up to Remembrance Day, greatly aids in the success of this mission. Thank you very much. As well, the Legion is a responsible community citizen - supporting graduates with bursaries, supporting the local Navy League Cadets and Sea Cadets with funds, and most importantly organizing Remembrance Day events. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to join or visit the Legion. It is located at 31 Legion Street in Hillsborough. The Legion - Ship’s Landing Lounge is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 2 pm to 10 pm. Drop in and learn more about the Legion and the many benefits of becoming a member. Forest Dale Nursing Home has an amazing opportunity to give back to seniors in our community through their volunteer program. Social connection and interaction benefit not only the residents, but the staff and volunteers themselves. Volunteers contribute to a vibrant and connected nursing home community. As one volunteer said, "We feel the more volunteers that are in the home, the more residents will still feel part of their community. The community where many of them spent their lives working, raising families, and even volunteering themselves". Human connection keeps us healthy, happy and fulfilled.
There are many activities offered at Forest Dale Nursing home, including: walking programs, Bingo, bowling/curling, baking, music events, special events etc. Or maybe you have an idea or something you are passionate about that you would like to share with the residents! Maybe you’d be interested in running a crochet/knit club, gardening club, card games, art club, the possibilities are endless! Forest Dale has a keen interest in opportunities for intergenerational activities as well! Bring your kiddos and bring your babes and do friendly visits. Forest Dale Nursing Home Board The 2024 February Frolic brought over a week of celebrating art, food, and nature! From stargazing to ice skating there was no shortage of things to do in Fundy Albert. We want to give a HUGE thanks to local community groups and businesses that hosted activities during the Frolic, the Village for partnering for both logistics and programming, and to everyone that came out to the events! Special thanks to the Government of New Brunswick’s Environmental Trust Fund for the support in awareness and education on Birds Species at Risk, Pollinators, and Dark Skies. We were able to host events like stargazing, art workshops, and our own Great Backyard Bird Count.
The “Valentine Social” was a fun-filled afternoon with over 40 Seniors and Adults deciphering a “Valensign” love letter of 1857, learning “Love Lessons from Old Valentines”, hearing the history of creating Valentines through the centuries, participating in activities with prizes ~ finding Valentine Puzzle Pairs and naming the Love Song. The sharing of Valentine’s Day memories was enjoyed by everyone. The event ended sweetly ~ socializing and savouring delicious treats!
