Another important issue, the election for council and mayor is approaching quickly, we need a few good people to step up to the plate! If you care for this community and feel you can commit to working a few hours each month please run for office – we are hoping for a lively election on May 9th! Any details needed can be found online, under Elections New Brunswick. Looks like nomination papers must be filed at the returning office by April 16th at 2 pm. Returning offices open on March 16th so file early!
You probably heard rumours by now that the Alma Celebration Days has had 2 meetings already to organize the 40th anniversary. Yes it is true that we are only planning on having the KID’S red/white parade. The last few years have been very disappointing, there was just not enough participation from the community and businesses. In order to have a meaningful show for our residents and tourists we need commitments from all our local businesses to put a float in, decorate your businesses and fly your celebration banners!
I certainly do want to thank those few who have faithfully participated all these years in our parade and it sure would be nice to have something for the 40th year of “Alma Jubilee”. Our next meeting is at the Leisure Centre at 2 pm on March 24th, please attend if you want a parade!
Hope to see you at the Alma Celebration Days meeting and of course think about running for office!
