This month's recipient of Community Member of the Month is the late Lois Snider of Hillsborough.
Lois is remembered for being a loving wife to her husband, Vaughn, and an amazing mother who was happiest when with her four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many people of the community have lasting memories of Lois as she was a strong supporting member of many local events, clubs and organizations.
At one time someone told Lois that we couldn’t have a Santa Clause parade in Hillsborough, which made her even more determined to make it happen!

Many people of the community have lasting memories of Lois as she was a strong supporting member of many local events, clubs and organizations.
At one time someone told Lois that we couldn’t have a Santa Clause parade in Hillsborough, which made her even more determined to make it happen!
The parade was a true community event, drawing people from communities near and far and truly focused on children. Lois would take special care to make sure that the candy Santa would hand out was available not only for the children of the community, but also for others who came to enjoy this very special event.
The community supported Lois with the Santa Clause parade for years right up until the year Covid caused the parade to shut down. Unfortunately, Lois passed away during Covid and the event seemed to be finished forever.
We are very fortunate to have another community leader come from the ever-giving Snider family. Lois’s daughter, Becky, has stepped up to share The Lois Snider Santa Claus Parade in Hillsborough again! The support from the Albert County community and surrounding areas will make this an event for both children and adults to attend and enjoy.
Everyone is welcome on December 3rd, 2022, to come to the village of Hillsborough and enjoy The Lois Snider Santa Claus Parade that will run along Main Street starting at the school parking lot and begin around 6:00pm.
When the parade is finished everyone is welcome to join Santa at the Hillsborough Kiwanis Community Centre for picture taking and candy bags for the children.
