 | We're DRUMMING UP THE CATCH! for the annual FISHING FLEET LAUNCH event in tiny Alma Village for the beginning of the Fall Lobster Season. You might know that Alma Village is adjacent to Fundy National Park and has the world's highest tides which is a global tourism draw (along with our delicious lobsters!) We're doing a new activity for this year's event -- A FLASH MOB in and around the village starting at 10 p.m. (after a briefing/organization/instruction at 9:00 p.m.) since the boats can't leave until HIGH TIDE which is around midnight. Last year's high tide was a 3 a.m. and attendance was staggering at that wee hour of the morning!! |
The Fleet Launch is a community event to show devotion to the lobster fishing industry (lobster is a global export from our tiny village fishing fleet) and to give good luck for a bountiful catch, and send them off with best wishes for safety for the crews and families. The event has grown exponentially in the past few years with amazing press coverage. Last year we had a cannon and sentry brought over from Nova Scotia to send them off with a bang! This year, we hope to DRUM UP THE CATCH with drummers of every variety in FLASH MOB style!
We've put a shout-out on Kijiji in Moncton, St. John, and Fredericton under community activities and musicians/artists. We'll need a commitment from a minimum number of drummers, but there is no limit!
