Hillsborough: The Hillsborough Arena will soon be upgraded. According to a press release from the Government of Canada on August 8, 2018, “the Hillsborough Arena is approximately 40 years old and in need of significant upgrades,” including a new ice refrigeration system; new rink boards, glass, and netting; a new roof; and general electrical upgrades. “The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are each contributing over $500,000, to this project through the Small Communities Fund, representing two-thirds of the estimated $1.5 million total project cost.”
Riverside-Albert Two water sampling stations will be installed in the municipal water system in Riverside-Albert. The federal government is funding up to 50 per cent of project costs—over $11,000. The provincial government is providing up to 25 per cent—over $5,000, and the Village of Riverside-Albert will provide the balance of the funding.
