This year, Parks Canada is continuing to improve its visitor offer with even more innovative and educational events and activities as well as new investments in visitor facilities. At Fundy National Park, Parks Canada is introducing the new Salt and Fir Centre, making 2016 the perfect time to celebrate your next life event while learning more about Canada’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
As part of Parks Canada’s unprecedented investment of $3 billion dollars over 5 years to support infrastructure work within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas across Canada, visitors to Fundy National Park will see upgrades to two playgrounds in the Chignecto North Campground. The playgrounds will showcase natural themes to enhance children’s learning about their environment while playing. At the other end of the park, improvements to the Point Wolfe Campground include upgrades and repairs to the washroom facilities and kitchen shelters, the addition of 10 oTENTiks and 25 new 2-way serviced sites. These overall investments represent the largest federal infrastructure plan in the history of Parks Canada.
National parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas represent the very best that Canada has to offer. Developing new and innovative programs and services is one way that Parks Canada helps more Canadians, including youth and newcomers, discover and enjoy one of the finest and most extensive systems of protected areas in the world.
As we near the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience Canada’s remarkable natural heritage and rich history at national parks and national historic sites this summer.
