Volunteer driver service to continue in Albert County

While it seemed that the volunteer driver service provided by Tele-Drive in Albert County was going to disappear following a press release by the Board of Directors at the end of June, the service will continue. The Tele-Drive Board of Directors is working closely with Rural Rides and WA Transpo to ensure clients in the region continue to have access to affordable transportation. All existing clients and drivers have been contacted and advised to call 962-3073 to book future rides.

Tele-Drive has been partnering with Rural Rides and the Volunteer Centre of Southeastern NB over the past couple of years to expand services throughout Albert and Westmorland Counties under the banner of WA Transpo. There have been some challenges and growing pains in the process but it is not the intent of any of the programs to cease this much needed service in their communities. It is because of the teamwork of these programs that service will continue in Albert County.
Volunteer driver services are an essential element to the life of rural residents. They provide much needed transportation to medical appointments and access to other life needs, as well as connecting people to their communities helping to reduce isolation.
