It all started with an Ugly Sweater Christmas Dance Party held early December 2018. The purpose of the event was to bring the community and surrounding areas together for a night of fun and to give back to the community. A BIG thank-you to The Fundy Curling Club for donating the use of the building and to Ethel Butland for the donation of mittens; both contributions to our first playground fundraiser were greatly appreciated.
The dance raised $1255 and the donation of mittens from Ethel Butland made $285. As of January 16th, 2019, $1540 was deposited. A great start; however it was evident that $1540 would not go far in the purchase of new playground equipment.
After a public meeting in March, a planning committee was formed with the objective to design a safe, accessible and inviting playground.
We believe the children of our communities deserve an outdoor space that offers a large variety of equipment and sensory components that accommodate positive growth and developmental skills, socially, emotionally, physically, and mentally.
To make this project a success, it requires community support in many ways. Your input, suggestions, donations and volunteering are needed.
