On October 13 2016 Moranda van Geest of Elgin became the 2nd annual recipient of the Molly Kool award...here is her 'Thank you' to the organizers and the community:
This was totally unexpected. I would like to thank the community members who nominated me, and the committee that selected me for the award. The award is very special and after reading up on Molly Kool, I realized we had a few things in common.
She is part Dutch and her father is a Dutch sailor.
I am Dutch and my grandfather, father, and every single one of my uncles all sailed the high seas. What a coincidence!
I would also like to thank the committee for the lovely evening we enjoyed. The kitchen party, the award ceremony, the comedian... it was altogether a night to remember. It was really Kool. :-)
