The 2018/2019 season was a great success for Hillsborough Huskies Hockey. While we were fortunate to have one Midget team make it all the way to the provincial semi-finals, numerous tournament wins and seven great teams of Huskies, a lot of us involved with the association would say our crowning moment of the season came at the end of the Finals of the Joe Lamontagne Tournament in Cole Harbour, NS, where our two midget teams squared off.

While we were fortunate to have one Midget team make it all the way to the provincial semi-finals, numerous tournament wins and seven great teams of Huskies, a lot of us involved with the association would say our crowning moment of the season came at the end of the Finals of the Joe Lamontagne Tournament in Cole Harbour, NS, where our two midget teams squared off.
This was their third and final meet of the season. The first two games were tied, but in a tournament final, there could not be a tie! By the end of the 3rd period, Martin’s Team held the 3-1 advantage and would bring home the Banner. But, the best thing I witnessed all season on or off the ice, was as soon as the final buzzer went, Jason’s team, who just lost, went and immediately celebrated with their friends on the opposing team.
In my thirty or so years around the game of hockey, I had never seen such a great display of sportsmanship. All of Albert County should be very proud of the young men and women who played this game, and this season, with a lot of class and sportsmanship! Way to go Guys & Girls!
